I think the xmas fantasy reveals that Chappie really wants to be with his family for the holidays. He talks about how he bought them gifts and they were very happy and even Ken called him "son". Chappie's mom and step dad didn't buy him anything and feel guilty but Chappie is quite okay with it. He's just happy to be with them. He might feel a bit of shame if he went back home like he couldn't get along by himself so he had to come home and maybe that's why he didn't. My first reaction to the book was this kid seems to have a hard life with his parents divorcing and having a step dad he doesn't really like that much. It automatically caught my interest because I want to know how he turns out. I feel that Chappie is a rebellious teenager but still wants to be with his family because of the xmas fantasy theme.
